are you serious? you call yourself "college boy" and you have to ask if saudis are rich. Now I realize that not all of the rich arabs are saudis but for the most part they are, and if they arent, they are typically little more than a tribe that broke away from the saudis many many generations ago, so for simplicity's sake lets just refer to them as saudis. They are insanely rich over there. The saudi royal family every year (in an effort to placate the masses and keep the general public somewhat pacified, if not indebted) meets the leader of every clan, tribe, or family and literally takes requests. These requests are almost always granted because no one has the gall to ask to be declared the next king of the land. It could be ANYTHING. A new car, money to send a son to school abroad, money to pay for sick camels, whatever. It usually is a request for money or permission to make a certain business arrangement (resulting in money for the requestee). The saudi royal family takes ALL requests from every head of family, tribe, or whatever who shows up. It is a big pow wow with tons of hookah smoking and feasting and the whole nine. Saudis, true saudis, do not do manual labor. AT ALL. There is a reason their military is so shitty compared to ours when they use OUR equipment and vehicles and have MORE than enough money to make a military successful. AMongst those reasons is the fact that they do not believe in maintaining things, routine maintenance, fixing things BEFORE they break are completely alien ideas to these people and the envision themselves above such chores and rather place the blame on overly-delicate design rather than their lack-a-daisical attitudes towards upkeep. Ask ANY military contractor who has spent anytime in Saudi Arabia and you will be in for a rant like no other. Saudis import all their labor, this goes for all those little sub-saudi nations on the peninsula too. Know that gorgeous F1 track in Bahrain? Built completely by imported labor. Saudis use other muslims to do ALL manual labor within their "holy land". They bring in primarily malaysians and phillipinos to do construction, santitation, and similar occupations. But these workers are NEVER granted citizenship no matter how long they stay, nor how much they do for the government. Hell the Kuwaitis are so up to their eyeballs in cash that they PAY their citizens yearly. Thats right, we pay taxes year round so that our gov can function and people can be supported and some of us get a fraction refunded or pay a fraction more every april, but the Kuwaitis are literally SUBSIDIZED for simply being Kuwaiti and living in Kuwait. They practice the same labor import methods and are not dissimilar from the Saudis in that way. And yet look at the conditions so many arabs, especially those depicted in the media here and in europe and on that cesspool al-jazeera, live in. But the arab world DOESNT GIVE TWO SHITS, they are perfectly happy scapegoating jews and christians (especially americans)for their socioeconomic ills. After all, those are the two fattest and easiest targets in the world, hell the history of the world honestly. They love to speak under the pretense of being so very pious and wholesome and pure via their beautiful religion etc etc etc, but speak to ANYONE who has EVER worked with arab men (who BTW are the only gender that count more than dirt in arab countries) side by side and they will tell you the same thing. They are all about being a good muslim and doing right and so on and so forth....so long as they are on the peninsula. Once they are in a foreign land......well the attitude basically is, Allah cant see me or what I do here. They are every bit as theiving, lecherous, foulmouthed, womanizing, moneygrubbing, moral-corrupting, as any filthy american, jew, black, hispanic, asian, whatever. What do I base this rant on? Well for starters my parent live in Cairo, Egypt. I hear about arab malaise, hypocrisy, corruption, and scapegoating every sunday, whether I am out of bed or not. I also am an active duty AF member in a unit which until the end of the Iraq war spent a better portion of every year in either Saudi Arabia or Oman, ever since 1991. And many of my senior counterparts have gone on to work as civilian contractors in that part of the world to train or educate the saudis/kuwaitis with their equipment or military programs, and have since returned literally flabergasted by what they witnessed and the mindset they unsuspectingly ran into. That part of the world truly is alien. There is a very good reason the good arab people you meet (and there are plenty) typically leave their homeland and do not return, just ask one they'll tell you. Only the truly committed (and hopelessly optimistic IMO) return to try and make their homeland a better place.
So basically yes, they are insanely rich, and no they havent a clue what to do with the money nor themselves, nor their time on earth.
And THAT is why the world is in such a mess stemming from that part of the world. Oh and Z-related, I cannot believe my freaking rearview mirror dimmer-lever broke tonight. I was driving along and actually pulled the lever to dim out a suburban stuck behind me (maybe the second time I have even touched that lever since I owned the car) and it is stuck in the one position, the lever is completely loose in its socket. WTF? lol I'm sorry but am I the only one who feel like that is one item that simply should NEVER break in any car? I dont care if it is a Maybach or an AMC gremlin, the rearview mirror dimmer should never break. *sigh*
